Dictionary of New Zealand Biographies

Task: Another Ministry for Culture & Heritage project was re-design the Dictionary of New Zealand Biographies (as the project is not live yet you can see the old design here), incorporating it into Te Ara (the Encyclopedia of New Zealand). It had to contain a separate identity to Te Ara while maintaining existing design conventions.

Outcome: This section of the site is not currently live, but I felt the work I have done on this site to date is successful in having a contempory but authoritative feel for content that has been carefully written & researched by excellent historians. It also had to feel "alive" which was a challenge considering the biographies were only about people who had died, but the fresh orange colour & the modern typography helped convey this feel.
